Southern Counties Leagues


There are two league structures within the SCPA; both involve participating clubs playing an equal number of home and away matches in each season. Games are usually played in the evenings from March to October.


The six-a-side league is organised into three divisions However Division 3 is split Easyt & West. Each match consists of one round of 2 triples games followed by a round of 3 doubles games, making a total of 5 games per match.


The nine-a-side league is organised into one division. Each match consists of three rounds of 3 triples games, making a total of 9 games per match.


In one season, a player can only play for one club in each league.

6-a-side competitions


The captain selects 6 players from their team to play against another club in the league on an agreed date, usually a weekday evening.


  1. The first game of the evening is triples.
  2. Players are divided into two triples by the captain and each of the two triples play one of the other team’s triples.
  3. After all triples games are completed, the players are reorganised into three doubles by the team captain.
  4. Each of the three doubles play one of the other team’s doubles.
  5. A total of 5 games are played in the evening, two triples games and three doubles games.
  6. Each team plays every other team in their league twice in a season, once at home and once away.
  7. Points are scored for each game win plus a bonus of 1 point for winning the match


9-a-side competitions


  1. The captain selects 9 players from their team to play against another club in the   league on an agreed date, usually a weekday evening.
  2.  Players are divided into three triples by the captain.
  3.  Each of the three triples play each of the other team’s triples, so a total of 9 games   are played in the evening.
  4.  Each team plays every other team in their league twice in a season, once at home   and once away.
  5.  One Point is scored for winning the match.
  6.  Games for and against are recorded and used for final positioning.



Indoor Winter League


An Indoor Winter Leaque is organised each year by Cobbetts Boules Club and takes place under-cover at Quob Stables Equestrian Center, Durley SO32 2AR. Matches take place on Friday evenings once a month from November to March. The format is 6 players in doubles with each double playing all the opponents doubles like 9 a side. Shedfield PC now is planning to enter two teams in the Indoor Winter Leaque captained by 

John Barker and Bob Bish
